Grandmother Passed Away!
I really thought that getting a negative pregnancy test result was going to be the worst thing that would happen recently. I got dressed and ready for work just like normal. I went into the office, poured a cup of coffee, and sat down at my desk. All was right with the world. About an hour and a half after I got to work my cell phone rang. I didn’t recognize the number, so I didn’t answer it. Whoever it was left me a voicemail, so I naturally checked it. That is when my world came tumbling down around me.
The call was from a family member about my grandmother. She had passed away suddenly that morning. I don’t understand how this could have happened so suddenly. She had been fine over the weekend, she had been fine on Wednesday. She got up yesterday morning just like always to have breakfast.
I know that some of you are thinking, ok it was your grandmother, it is sad, but get over it. I know she lived a long happy life, and that she missed my grandfather terribly. You have to understand my connection with her to understand how devastated I was. I was born on her 50th birthday to start out with. She had 3 boys (just like me I might add), and so I was the first grandchild and a girl to boot. I practically lived with my grandparents from the day I was born. I went on vacations with them every year. After my grandfather died I pretty much took care of my grandmother until a couple of years ago. Anyway, she was more like my mother than anything else. She has by far been the biggest influence in my life.
I have pretty much cried since the phone call yesterday, and I am crying now so I am going to go.
